Photo Gallery | Does Your Dog Have What it Takes to Be 'Top Dog?' Local Hotel Searches for National Mascot

It has been a few months since the Arlington Capital View Hotel held its grand opening celebration back in March. But now this newly built, pet-friendly, extended stay hotel in Crystal City is searching for a doggie mascot. Denise Durgin, Director of Marketing for the Renaissance & Residence Inn Arlington Capital View Hotel, says they are currently in search of a well-trained dog to represent the hotel through the "Top Dog" Contest.

"So many of our guests stay week after week, so we want it to be like home when they are away on business," said Durgin.

The "Top Dog" will be the face of the pet-friendly branded hotel. While the contest is national, the hotel would love a local area canine to win in Maryland, Virginia, or Washington, D.C., so that the dog could be part of the hotel family and help integrate the hotel into the community.

So what qualities are they looking for in their Top Dog mascot?

"It's going to be tough to decide. They have to be calm in demeanor and more of a laid-back dog. We don't want one that gets overly excited," said Durgin.

Check out the photo gallery to see some of the submissions so far! You can enter your dog anytime before September 24th. It is a $25 contest fee, but all of the proceeds for the contest go towards The Washington Humane Society
