Local CrossFit Affiliate Supports Special Operations Warrior Foundation

 

ARLINGTON, Va., August 31, 2011 – Potomac CrossFit, one of 2000+ international CrossFit affiliates, is participating in the annual "Fight Gone Bad" fundraiser on Saturday, September 24, 2011.  The annual event is an interval-sprint workout that benefits the Special Operations Warrior Foundation, the Infant Swimming Resource Program, CrossFit Kids, and Camp Patriot.   This year’s event coincides with Clarendon Day and begins at 8am – right in the middle of Arlington's North Highland Street – with over 100 athletes cycling through the grueling workout every hour until 4pm.

ARLINGTON, VA – John “Cakes” Auville and Eric “E.B.” Bickel of 106.7 The Fan’s popular morning drive radio show The Sports Junkies have been selected as special guest coaches for the third annual Charity Hockey Classic, to be held Saturday, September 10 at Kettler Capitals Iceplex.  Charity Hockey Classic Chairman Adam Bartholomew made the announcement earlier today.

With temperatures in the area expecting to soar in the high 90’s and 100's once again this week, Washington Sports Clubs is encouraging Washingtonians to take their workouts indoors to escape the heat. Clubs citywide will open their doors to the public for free workouts every time the thermometer hits 90 degrees through August.

Beginning this month you can work out for free in any WSC facility on days where the temperature tops 90 degrees.

COLLEGE PARK, MD – The Junior Tennis Champions Center (JTCC), located at 5200 Paint Branch Parkway in College Park, MD, is hosting the 2011 US Open Wildcard Playoff from August 18–20.  The United States Tennis Association (USTA) has selected eight men and eight women to compete in the 2011 US Open Wildcard Playoffs for a spot in the main draw of the US Open.
