Local Students Decorate Washington's Airports at Annual Tree Trimming Celebration

Join the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority for the sweet sensation of decorating trees at its 5th annual tree-trimming celebration. This year’s theme is “Celebrate the Holidays on Candy Lane”. Students from the District of Columbia, Virginia and Maryland will deck Reagan National and Dulles International trees with theme-related ornaments. The trees will be on display for passengers and visitors to enjoy throughout the month of December.

APS to Celebrate National School Psychology Awareness Week

Arlington Public Schools will join school systems around the nation and participate in the National School Psychology Awareness Week, Nov. 14-18. The focus for the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP) is to helping students strengthen positive relationships and increase positive connections. This year’s theme, “Every link matters, Make a connection,” helps students and schools focus on creating positive connections within the school community, their academics, and their lives.
APS school psychologists will increase awareness activities that promote the field of school psychology, and how school psychologists can support students, staff, and parents to meet the needs of the whole child by helping students feel connected, supported, and ready to achieve their individual goals.

Arlington Public Schools will be holding auditions for countywide honor bands, orchestras and choruses in November and December.  

 

Any current APS student who is enrolled in one of the grade levels listed below is eligible to audition.

On Wednesday, October 19, 2011, 32 preschoolers at The Child and Family Network Centers’ (CFNC) Arlington classrooms were visited by third and fourth graders from Good Shepherd Christian Academy in Fairfax, VA. As part of Good Shepherd’s Serve-a-Thon, their students read stories, much to the delight of CFNC preschoolers.
