National PTA Grant to Fund Barrett Book Club

From Arlington Public Schools:

Barrett Elementary School received a $1,000 grant from the National Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) for its National Take Your Family to School Week. The PTA Take Your Family to School Week will be held Feb. 12–18 with the purpose of expanding and enhancing family engagement in schools across the country.

Washington-Lee Pyramid Concert Scheduled for on Jan. 18

From Arlington Public Schools:

The Arlington community is invited to attend the Washington-Lee High School Pyramid concert on Wed, Jan. 18 at 7 p.m. The concert will feature over 200 students in grades 4-12 from Arlington Science Focus and Barrett elementary schools, Jefferson Middle School and Washington-Lee.
A grant provided by the Arlington Education Fund was provided to help cover the costs for this event.
The concert is free and open to the public. 
Parking is available in I-66 parking deck. The entrance is located off of N. Stafford St. next to W-L and off of N. 15th St. and N. Quincy. Overflow parking is available at the Arlington Education Center, 1426 N. Quincy St.

Kindergarten Information Night Set for Jan. 30

From Arlington Public Schools:

Arlington parents with children entering kindergarten in September 2012 are invited to attend the countywide Kindergarten Information Night on Mon, Jan. 30, at 7 p.m. at Washington-Lee High School, 1301 N. Stafford St.

Arlington Public Schools Closed on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day

Arlington Public Schools, as well as all APS administrative offices, will be closed on Monday, Jan.16 to observe the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday. There will also be a Teacher Work Day on January 23rd.
