Showroom Managers Julia Walter and Brian Fell along with Boffi's Lilian Leong and Maxalto's Thor Ochs welcome guests for an evening soiree Boffi-Maxalto held a Summer Soiree on June 26 at the Boffi-Maxalto Showroom, 3320 M Street NW in Cady's Alley/Georgetown. Boffi-Maxalto kicked off summer with specially-created hors d'oeuvres by renown Chef Roberto Donna, Esquire's 2012 Chef of the Year, as well as a Prosecco tasting with Altaneve. The chef was interacting with guests while preparing risotto in one of the Boffi kitchens.

Ana Davis, City of Manassas Utilities customer services manager and Tarek Aly, City of Manassas deputy director of utilities, completed phase one of an elite, one-year, public power manager certification program offered by the American Public Power Association (APPA). The initial class was in Myrtle Beach, SC with completed leadership projects due within a year. Davis and Aly will be the only City utilities employees to receive the certification. The Chief Creative Officer of the Washington, DC-based firm sees the power of design as a global theme

Pum Lefebure, co-founder and Chief Creative Officer of Design Army, www.designarmy.com, is one of only two US judges in the Design category at the global 61st Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity, June 15-21, in France. She was selected to judge the world's leading celebration of creativity in communications.

MANASSAS CITY RECEIVES NATIONAL AWARD FOR 100 YEARS OF SERVICE

Manassas City Utilities received the Century Award from the American Public Power Association (APPA) for its 100-year anniversary. To commemorate the milestone, Manassas City Utilities hosted a 100-year anniversary event in October, 2013 that was attended by more than 600 people. At the event, they ceremoniously buried a time capsule containing memorable utility items from the past century and also raised more than $3,000 to donate to the American Cancer Society.

METROPOLITAN SCHOOL OF THE ARTS PRESENTS COPPELIA on SAT. MAY 17

Metropolitan School of the Arts will premiere their first spring ballet, Coppelia, performed by the Metropolitan Youth Ballet on Sat., May 17 at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. at the George Washington Masonic National Memorial Theater in Alexandria, Va. Coppelia is the story of Swanhilda, a young girl who appears magically to bring a doll to life. The show is geared toward young audiences who can enjoy a ‘meet and greet’ with the characters after the show. Tickets are $7.50 per person, go to www.metropolitanarts.org to purchase.
