Landlord says former DC United player destroyed his home


ARLINGTON, Va. (WUSA9) -- A former D.C. United player is being sued for nearly $90,000 by his landlord, who claims the athlete not only didn't pay rent but caused serious damage to the property.

Samuel Inkoom, a one time D.C. soccer player, is nowhere to be found.

"I saved for about seven years, pinching pennies," recalled Paul Willette, who says his home on S. Monroe Street in Arlington was his dream home.

Was being the key word.

"What we believe happened is that a T.V. was mounted here."

That's what Willette says punctured the waste line into the home.

Arlington car destroyed by fallen power lines


ARLINGTON, Va. (WUSA9) -- An Arlington man blames a lightning strike for the demise of his car.

Daniel Groue told WUSA9 that lightning knocked down power lines in his Arlington neighborhood last night, and those outside of his home on Nelson Street.

"Last night around 10:30 we here this big explosion, look outside and the power line is down and its burning towards my car... and it just burns," Groue explained.

The lines landed right on his convertible Mercedes. Goure lost his car, but fortunately nobody was injured.

Arlington mother's death now homicide


ARLINGTON (WUSA9) -- An Arlington mother found dead inside of her home on Friday was stabbed to death, police confirmed Monday.

Her death is now being investigated as a homicide, police added.

The 42-year-old single mother, Bonnie Black, was found dead in her Arlington home located in the 1100 block of 18th Street South, police said. Black was an FBI contract psychologist, neighbors told WUSA9's Peggy Fox.

ARLINGTON, Va. (WUSA9) -- A single mother in Arlington was found dead in her home on Friday, Arlington County police said.

Bonnie Black, age 42, was found in the 1100 block of 18th Street South.

Police were contacted when a passerby noticed Black's three-year-old and five-year-old wandering outside of the home.

Black separated from her husband about two years ago, but not before several encounters with police.

Crews battle Arlington house fire


ARLINGTON, Va. (WUSA9) -- No injuries have been reported after a house fire in Arlington Thursday.

The fire happened in the 1100 block of S. Rolfe Street around 11:46 a.m. Fire officials say crews responded to the area for a report of a garage fire.

All of the building's occupants were outside when firefighters arrived. Fire officials say it took about 30 minutes to contain the fire.

The fire caused extensive damage to the building and minor damage to two neighboring homes, fire officials said.

Man sentenced for fatal Rosslyn DWI


ARLINGTON, Va. (WUSA9) -- A Baltimore man was sentenced to 12 years in prison for his role in a January 2014 drunk driving crash that killed an Alexandria man.

Prosecutors say Aman Lali crashed his Jeep into a car driven by Saqlain Chowdhury, 24, on Lee Highway in Rosslyn. Chowdhury was pronounced dead at the scene.

In August 2014, Lali pleaded guilty to driving under the influence aggravated involuntary manslaughter. Since 2008, Lail has faced nearly three dozen vehicle-related charges in Arlington, Fairfax and Loudoun counties, according to police.

Man dies in fatal accident in Virginia


ARLINGTON, Va. (WUSA9) -- A man died in a fatal accident at Old Dominion and North Glebe Road Friday, according Arlington County police.

At approximately 8:29 p.m., Arlington County police received a call about an accident with injury at the intersection of Old Dominion Dr and North Glebe Road.

When crews arrived, police say they found a three car accident with the driver of a pickup truck lying in the road.

The driver was man in his late 40's and police say he was dead at the scene.

Police determined the man was driving a pickup truck northbound on North Glebe Road when he rear ended a Jaguar at the intersection with Old Dominion Drive.

Police say the impact did extensive damage to the Jaguar and the pickup. The impact caused the Jaguar to go through the intersection and hit a third vehicle, police said.
