METROPOLITAN SCHOOL of the ARTS to FEATURE NUTCRACKER on Nov. 22 and 23 in ANNANDALE

Metropolitan School of the Arts (MSA) of Alexandria and Lorton, Va. will present their annual Nutcracker performances on Sat., Nov. 22 at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m., and on Sun., Nov. 24 at 12 p.m. and
5 p.m.at the Northern Virginia Community College, Ernst Cultural Center at the Annandale Campus in Annandale, Va. Ticket prices range from $21 to $27 and can be purchased online at www.metropolitanarts.org.

Monza of Old Town Manassas, Va. is hosting a four-course Devil’s Backbone Brewery fall beer dinner, featuring beers like Vienna Lager, Kilt Flasher, Gold Leaf Lager and 4-point Pale Ale on Thurs., Nov. 6 at 6:30 p.m. for $65 inclusive. For reservations, go to www.eatmonza.com.

MANASSAS CITY HOSTS ANNUAL PUBLIC UTILITIES DAY; FREE FAMILY EVENT and DIGGER DEMO

On Sat., Oct. 11, the City of Manassas Utilities and Public Works department is hosting their annual Public Utilities Day event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at their facility at 8500 Public Works Drive in Manassas, Va. The event features free tours of the facility, various utility displays, electric city, water shed, sewer shed and digger derrick demonstrations, kids’ activities, raffle prizes, a barbecue lunch by Virginia Barbecue, ice cream by Nathan’s and Miss Lyn balloonist. Design Army X Karla Colletto to debut their swimwear collection - Swim At Your Own Risk - on Friday, August 22 from 7-10 p.m. at Capitol Skyline Hotel

On the heels of judging the global 61st Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity in France as one of two US judges in the Design category, Pum Lefebure, co-founder and Chief Creative Officer of Design Army, just released her first swimwear collection, Swim At Your Own Risk, in collaboration with Karla Colletto. A capsule collection for Colletto’s Cruise 2015 line and Lefebure’s first venture into fashion design, the five-piece graphic swimsuits and beachwear debuted at the Miami Swim Show on July 19th.

Monza’s four-course beer dinner includes: Greeter Beer Bloodline IPA with meat and cheese platter;  Dead Rise Old Bay Summer Ale with Old Bay Crab Cakes, pan-seared crab cake, with roasted red pepper coulis, frisee, lemon olive oil and sriracha aioli; Hefeweizen with  Strawberry Mache Salad with radicchio, hydro-bibb lettuce, toasted hazelnuts, vanilla-bean vinaigrette; Easy IPA paired with Penne Roasted Tomato Sausage Ragu, includes roasted red peppers, leeks, oregano, basil and parmesan; and for dessert a Gonzo Porter Beer Float, includes Gonzo porter, vanilla ice cream, caramel and a homemade chocolate chip cookie.

METROPOLITAN SCHOOL of the ARTS THEATRE to Present LEGALLY BLONDE, the MUSICAL, Aug. 15-24

Metropolitan School of the Arts (MSA) Theatre of Lorton, Va. will present their version of Legally Blonde directed by Danilo Stapulo and choreographed by Jonathon Faircloth from Fri., Aug. 15 to Sun., Aug. 24 at the MSA’s Lorton Campus at 9601 Ox Road in Lorton, Va. Legally Blonde, the Musical is based on the 2001 novel by Amanda Brown and the hit film, Legally Blonde. It follows the story of Elle Woods, as she goes on a mission to find love (and herself) at Harvard Law School. After discovering how the law can be used to help others, Elle finds herself using her new found skills to defend a workout-queen caught in a murder trial. Legally Blonde, the Musical is an evening of high-energy song, dance, and music.
