CITY of MANASSAS HOSTS FREE RECYCLEFEST; CELEBRATES AMERICA RECYCLES DAY, Sat. NOV. 15
In celebration of America Recycles Day, the City of Manassas Public Works and Utilities is hosting its annual Recyclefest on Sat., Nov. 15 from 8 a.m. to noon at the Manassas Transfer Station, located at 8305 Quarry Road. Residents can recycle items and shred documents for FREE. For more information, call 703-257-8252 or go to www.manassascity.org.

Manassas, Va. residents will be able to recycle their household hazardous waste, electronic waste, gently used clothing and even shred paper documents for FREE.

“Each year, the United States generates more than 250 million tons of municipal solid waste— that’s more than four pounds per person, per day,” said Monica Boehringer, refuse and recycling coordinator of Manassas Public Works and Utilities.

Italo Ceramica, a ceramic tile retailer with 36 stores in Europe, celebrated the opening of its first US showroom located at 725 Rockville Pike in Rockville, Maryland this month. The Italo Ceramica team welcomed more than 120 design industry professionals, media and customers for a grand opening celebration with special guests Andrea Bacchini, North America Market Director for Imola Ceramica, Italo Ceramica’s partner, and artist Alexander Stefan, who exhibited his photography. Stefan also raffled off one of his works during the evening event.

1500 Tons of Salt Ready for Winter Season in Manassas City

Winter weather might just be around the corner for the Manassas, Va. area and the City of Manassas Utilities and Public Works Department is well armed with salt, sand and trucks. The City of Manassas Utilities and Public Works Department annually budgets $250,000 for snow treatment and removal, and is prepared with 16 snow-removal trucks, 25 contract equipment, 1500 tons of road salt and almost 500 tons of sand. “If we experience snow or ice earlier than usual in the season, it can catch drivers off guard, and it will be more important than ever to make sure we are prepared and clear our roads as soon as possible,” said Mike Moon, director of public works and utilities for the City of Manassas.

Smithsonian Women's Committee Members, Smithsonian Craft Show Artists and Dinner Guests Joined Five of DC's Top Interior Designers at Their Homes for the Second Annual Dinners by Design

David MitchellAndrew Law, Camille SaumSkip Sroka, and Rosemarie Howe generously and creatively supported the recent Smithsonian Craft Show by hosting five exciting Dinners by Design. David Mitchell founded this annual event in 2012 and is working towards declaring April Design Month in DC.

Guests had the unique opportunity to tour the designers' homes, who offered a rare behind-the-scenes look at their residences while also sharing insight into the process of designing homes for some of the DC area's celebrities.
