Giant's Grand Re-Opening Means Big News for Arlington and Columbia Pike

Giant's Grand Re-Opening Means Big News for Arlington and Columbia Pike

Giant Food re-opened their Penrose Square location on Thursday evening. This means big news for Columbia Pike and Arlington because beyond the new 57,000 square foot grocery store, there are 299 luxury rental apartments and many new retail spaces for local restaurants and entrepreneurs.

“I’ve lived in the area for 24 years and I’ve always shopped at Giant and it’s been closed for probably two years. We’ve just been down here everyday watching to see when it opened so it’s a nice day for the neighborhood,” said a Giant customer.

Giant’s red-carpet Premiere Night included wine tastings, tapas, a Mariachi band, and ribbon-cutting ceremony.

“You now have your Giant in Arlington,” said Giant’s newest Store Manager to the audience of Arlington dignitaries and community members.

New Elements at the Giant at Penrose Square Giant include the following:

Fresh fruits and vegetables are in high demand among AFAC clients, especially as fuel prices drive up food prices.

Produce donations can be delivered to three sites this summer:
