BASIS.ed’s co-founder Dr. Michael Block will speak at a free, public information session on Wed., May 24 at BASIS Independent McLean at 6:15 p.m., located at 8000 Jones Branch Drive in McLean, Va. to discuss U.S. News & World Report’s Best High School Rankings that has listed five of the 10 schools as BASIS.ed – at first, second, third, fifth and seventh place. The public is invited to hear Dr. Block talk about the notable school curriculum that led to BASIS.ed’s reputable U.S. rankings. Dr. Block had an eminent career as an educator, professor and policymaker before opening the first BASIS.ed School in 1998. He earned a masters of arts and doctoral degree in economics from Stanford University and was a University of Arizona Professor of Economics and Law for more than 25 years, as well as Director of the University of Arizona’s Office of Economic Education. Dr. Block has also served as a founding member of the U.S. Sentencing Commission and as a consultant to the World Bank. He was named among Noodle.com’s 67 Most Influential Educators of 2015.
