Manassas City UTILITES DEPT. AWARDED PLATINUM LEVEL-RELIABLE PUBLIC POWER DESIGNATION

City of Manassas, Va.  is one of 184 of the nation’s more than 2,000 public power utilities to earn the Reliable Public Power Provider (RP3®)1 designation from the American Public Power Association (APPA) for providing consumers with the highest degree of reliable and safe electric service. This is the fifth year that the City of Manassas Public Works/Utilities department has received this designation. The City of Manassas was one of two public utilities in Virginia to be awarded the RP3 in 2013, out of 16 Virginia public power providers. The chair of APPA’s RP3 Review Panel presented the designees on April 7 during the association’s annual Engineering & Operations Technical Conference held in Oklahoma City, Okla.

Cheryl Wilhoyte, Ph.D. of Falls Church, Va. is now heading up the Metropolitan School of the Arts of Lorton, Va.  As the head of school, she’ll be tasked to develop, guide and plan academic and school programming for the D.C. area’s first private, secondary performing arts/academic school, that serves 7th through 12th graders. Earning her doctorate, master’s and bachelor degrees from the University of Maryland, Dr. Wilhoyte specializes in empowering schools, coaching, turnaround principalships, and leadership planning at the district, state and national levels. Susan E. Lhotka has been the City of Manassas refuse and recycling coordinator since 1995 and assisted with the management and oversight of solid waste management programs for Manassas including the residential refuse and recycling contracts.
