Walter Reed Community Center Holds Black History Month Gospel Concert

The Walter Reed Community Center, which is located at 2909 16th Street in Arlington, held a special concert today in honor of Black History Month. This free concert was one of many events held in Arlington County for Black History Month.

Arlington County Board Chairman Chris Zimmerman introduced the members of Macedonia Baptist Church before they began their singing. Minister of Music, David Nelson, lead a discussion on the historical significance of each song and the spiritual value of African American Culture.

The concert began at 11:00 a.m. and the audience was welcomed to come earlier to enjoy hot chocolate and cookies in the Walter Reed CafĂ©. Today was also a special day for the recently redesigned Walter Reed Community Center. The new features include a new solid steel picket fencing, as well as a new building entrance sign. Walter Reed Community Center is one of the County's greenest buildings. Check out the video to hear Susan Kalish, the Director of Marketing and Communications for Parks and Recreation for Arlington County tells us more about today's concert, upcoming events for Arlington County, as well as Walter Reed's "new look."
