Arlington County Woman Went Missing After Trip to Mall

Crystal City, Va.--(WUSA) Police are searching for a mentally ill patient who went missing from Pentagon City Mall Tuesday Afternoon.

Laura Lynn Brewer was last seen with a group at the mall at around 1:30 p.m., police said.

Brewer has a mental illness and she's only able to speak her first name, police said.

Anyone who has information about where Brewer may be is asked to call Arlington County Police at (703) 558-2222.

Local Marine Buried At Arlington National Cemetery

Arlington, Va. (WUSA) -- Tuesday evening, friends and family remembered a Falls Church marine killed while serving overseas.

Sergeant Ronald Rodriguez was killed last week in Afghanistan. His family buried him at Arlington National cemetery.

This was Rodriguez' third tour of duty in the war on terrorism. His first two were in Iraq.

Jonathan Morales, a friend of the fallen Marine, said Rodriguez was a man proud to serve his country..." Ronald and I played on the same soccer team growing up, lived on the same street our whole lives. He had a great sense of humor, diligent, hard working and proud to be in the Marines.

Rodriguez is survived by his parents and two sons.

Still No License Services at DMV

Due to the statewide computer outage at Virginia DMV's, driver's licenses and ID cards are still unable to be processed. Customers are encouraged to check online for updates because the estimated recovery time is still unknown and the system will not be fixed by Wednesday, September 1. 

"Old Guard" Warriors Return From Iraq Mission

FT MYER, Va. (WUSA) The US Army's Old Guard is the nations's longest serving infantry unit and 124 of its warriors returned from Iraq after a historic one year deployment.

The soldiers, part of C company, 1st Battalion, 3rd US Infantry Company, were warmly received late saturday evening by their spouses, children and parents during an emotional ceremony at Fort Myer in Arlington.  After the official part of the ceremony concluded the soldiers were mobbed by their loved ones eager to show their affection after a year long separation.

The troops'  mission included providing security for one of three Iraqi prisons still under US  control. It was also a historic deployment for the unit which has served the nation since 1784. Old Guard soldiers conducted combat patrols throughout the area. It was the first time Old Guard units carried out such duties since World War II.

On Saturday, August 28, runners of all levels are invited to join the Team Lemon Clarendon, the Lululemon community running group, at 9:00 a.m. for a run through Arlington. The run will start at end at the Lululumon store located at 2847 Clarendon Boulevard. The running group will run anywhere from 4-6 miles.

On Sunday, Lululemon of Clarendon invites you out for even more! At 7:00 p.m. the store offers a complimentary one hour long yoga class. Bring a mat if you have one, but if you don't - don’t sweat it! There are extras in the store for students to borrow. Are you training for a half marathon or a marathon for this fall? Cupcake Class at Wildfire

Cupcakes have truly been all the rage. Now you and your kids can learn how to bake, frost, decorate, and devour your very own delicious cupcakes! On Saturday, September 25, Wildfire is hosting a cupcake class for the whole family. WUSA9 Reporter Jessica Doyle is hosting the class with her daughter Sophia along with Wildfire Executive Chef Steven Lukis with his son Spencer.

This hands-on cupcake class will be held at the Wildfire in Tyson’s Galleria in McLean, VA from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The cost to attend is $20 per adult and this covers up to 2 kids. Part of the proceeds will go to Food for Others, which is the largest distributor of free food to people in need in the Northern Virginia area.
